Longtime television personality, game show host and Tonight Show sidekick Ed McMahon died in a Los Angeles hospital Tuesday, June 23, 2009. He was 86.

Perhaps best known as Johnny Carson’s straight man, whose bellowing “H-e-e-e-e-e-ere’s Johnny!” opened NBC’s Tonight Show, McMahon had dreamed of being a radio announcer since he was a child.

Hey Ed, I’ve been waiting all these years to win the Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes and have you come and ring my doorbell and present me a check. Since you’ve gone on to be with the Lord does that mean you ain’t coming now?
